Laphroaig Select Malt Whisky
In making Laphroaig, malted barley is dried over a peat fire. Smoke from burning peat gives this vividly individual whiskey its distinctive, rich aroma. The peat content has elements of woody mass, shrubs, humus and algae, which gives an extremely rich palette of character to the whisky.
In 1994 the Friends of Laphroaig Club was founded: "Friends of Laphroaig Club". To join, all you have to do is buy a bottle of Laphroaig, log in to the site and enter its unique code. Each club member becomes the proud owner of approximately one square foot (930 sq cm) of Laphroaig land on the Isle of Isla.
SELECT owes its name to a selection of American and European barrels specially selected for its aging. The selection includes Oloroso sherry casks, white American oak, Pedro Jimenez, exurban casks and quarter casks. SELECT is a very soft and fine Laphroaig, slightly smoky and sweeter than LAPHROAIG 10YO.
