Tyrconnell
THE TYRCONNELL® legend was born in 1876 when RM Delamere entered his horse Tyrconnell in the prestigious National Produce Stakes.
That afternoon, luck was on his side – Tyrconnell defied the bookies and won. The surprising victory unlocks the imagination of the assembled audience, including A.A. Watt, a local brewer. He chose to commemorate the event by creating a limited edition whiskey named after the local champion. Despite his intention to produce the limited edition only once, The Tyrconnell® became his most famous whisky. Prior to Prohibition in the US, The Tyrconnell® was said to be the best-selling Irish whiskey in America. Today the brand is maintained by Kilbeggan Distilling Company, proud defenders of Irish whiskey traditions.
